Blog-A-Thon Offers Relaxation and Visualization Tips and Tricks at BrainCaregiver.com

Third Step Press will present a daily Blog-A-Thon, “21 Days to Eureka!”, beginning June 21 on Braincaregiver.com The focus will be to help caregivers acquire the habit of relaxation and the ability to relax on self-command in the face of frustration or crises.

The daily blogs will offer special tips for home caregivers of cognitively, emotionally and/or memory-challenged patients. Beyond stress control, caregivers will learn how to tap into the creative, intuitive source in the subconscious mind.

Created by Madonna Siles, C.P.C., author of two books for caregivers of stroke and brain injury survivors, the blog will feature daily motivation meditations, enhanced by photos. In addition to tips and tricks for acquiring the relaxation habit, participants in the Blog-A-Thon will be encouraged to support each other with comments that prove relaxation is working in their lives. A link will be provided to the author’s website, Eurekamaster.com, where caregivers can experience a relaxation visualization.

According to Siles, a certified professional life coach and a career motivational communicator, “The concept of a 21-day Blog-A-Thon is based on the premise that it takes 21 days to acquire a new habit. Borrowing from a 12-step program practice, the Blog-A-Thon will encourage action to reinforce that the new habit is ‘working’. It will also encourage participants to positively support each other with their comments.”

Both of Siles’s books, Brain, Heal Thyself (Hampton Roads, 2006) and Eureka! Memories and Motivations (Third Step Press, 2010), describe the author’s unique approach to the daily caregiving of her friend, the survivor of a devastating brain hemorrhage in 2001. The books are available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other online retailers, as well as the author’s website, www.Eurekamaster.com

Devil’s Son Encounters Cross of Jesus Christ

In his book Out of the Devil’s Caldron: A Journey from Darkness to Light, John Ramirez tells the story of how he was trained to be the third-ranked high priest of a satanic cult (Santeria) in New York City–casting powerful witchcraft spells and controlling entire spiritual regions. But what started as a long spiral into the underworld ended in a miraculous encounter with God that changed his life.

See how this book impacted other people’s lives:

“WOW! This book had me enthralled from page one all the way to the end. While many will be fascinated by how this true life story unmasks and sheds light on the truth of so much of what is veiled in the world of the occult; the real story here is the human interest: the story of abuse, neglect and pain that turns a boy to evil and the love and mercy of an all-too-real God that redeems his soul. This is a MUST read…” –Peter Torres

“Ramirez preaches reality through every chapter of his book to those caught in the web and deception of a dark world. He holds back nothing and exposes all. Rescued by a miraculous encounter, he describes the chilling details of a night of anguish as he spirals down to hell and finds himself at the cross of mercy.” — The Pen of a Ready Writer

“I found Out of the Devil’s Caldron to be quite an interesting and enlightening read. The book definitely is a warning to all believers in Christ that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against invisible spiritual entities. The author narrated his personal experiences including times when he was humiliated. I read this book and saw clearly the power of the cross of Jesus Christ.” –Idemudia Guobadia

“John Ramirez’s testimony reads like the fast-paced script of a major motion picture, capturing the loneliness and heartbreak of a young boy who yearned for a father figure and found it in the devil. As he grew into manhood, John moved up the ranks in the occult religions of Santeria and Palo Mayombe, achieving a status that garnered him money, power, women–anything he wanted–but nearly cost him his soul. Yet God had other plans for him and literally snatched him back from the brink of hell.” –Wordsmith

“This is a MUST READ! You won’t be disappointed. It flows so well, I was done in two days! Many things I wondered about and even encountered from the occult world were laid bare. I so appreciate this man for telling the truth. Please get two copies, one for you and one for a friend.” –Noni

“I found John Ramirez’s story to be a real page-turner. I couldn’t put the book down because its a compelling read on two levels. First and foremost, this is a story of God’s amazing love even for one who openly rejected Him. John Ramirez talks about his painful childhood and how he came to experience the reality of God’s love for him–a touching and beautiful story. Truly, God reaches out His hand to us all—even those who worship demons as John Ramirez did. But there’s another level to this book. You’ll get a real window into the workings of the kingdom of darkness and how it operates. Demons and demon worship really exist folks! The author knows. He was at the highest level you could get to in Santeria. As an insider, he gives you a unique look at how that realm operates. What John Ramirez has to teach us about how Satan operates makes this book a must-read in my opinion.” –Lori

Out of the Devil’s Caldron walks you through the dark alleys of the occult religions of Santeria, Palo Mayombe, and espiritismo (spiritualism) while exposing the hidden secrets of darkness. Be held in suspense as you read each chapter of this chilling true story of the life of a Santeria high priest and his journey from darkness to light.

Poker Star’s Untimely Death Coincides with Release of Fitness Book “Peak Performance Poker”

Peak Performance Poker, by Travis Steffen, Dimat Poker Books’ latest publication, is the first book to delve into how diet, fitness, and nutrition can have a profound impact on achieving true poker potential. The book is set to hit shelves in late July 2010 and Dimat Poker Books is currently taking pre-orders.

Sadly, this release coincided with the untimely death of Poker Star Paul “Smalls” Kitsos en route to Las Vegas. Media outlets were quick to blame his weight for his death and some questioned poker’s status as a sport. The connection of the body to the mind is obvious and well documented but has only recently been focused on by top poker pros. Case studies from these pros combined with proven science published in respected medical and sport science journals are the basis for Steffen’s Peak Performance Methodology.

Steffen says: “I’ve trained a number of professional and collegiate athletes and even a UFC champion, and the most apparent concept that determined any of their successes was the level of control they had over themselves through all practices and competition. While the similarities between activities one would typically consider as “sport” and poker may not seem extremely obvious to you yet, they will be after the very first chapter. It may sound a little brassy, but Matthew (Hilger) and I like to think that this book will completely change the way you view poker as a whole.

“Today’s Poker pros have a great deal in common with today’s professional athletes: They’ve dedicated serious time to learning the fundamentals; practice regularly; strive to improve by analyzing every move; use psychology to hone your winning edge–and, if they don’t take care of themselves both mentally and physically, they’ll lose their winning edge.”

Peak Performance Poker features interviews and quotes from some of today’s top players including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, David “The Maven” Chicotsky, “ElkY”, Alec Torelli, and David “Raptor” Benefield all of whom understand crucial aspects of poker fitness, including:

“Flow”–what it means to top athletes and why it’s equally important to you.

Chips on the table, not on your plate–eating right to improve your game.

Taking it easy–how essential rest and recovery really are.

Getting psyched–applying sports psychology to help you win.

Time management–the benefits of balancing poker with the rest of your life.

Matthew Hilger, Poker Pro and Dimat Poker Books owner, had this to say about the new book. “For those players who are looking for an edge in their poker game, this book marries your poker playing skills with sound advice on eating correctly, exercising and putting you completely into the right frame of mind in the time leading up to your important sessions and tournaments. Eliciting peak performance is much more than being in shape. Getting your body and your mind ready to perform at the highest level possible in ANYTHING you do requires a number of different strategies that go beyond the scope of traditional poker training – many of which are covered within the pages of Peak Performance Poker.”

The modern poker table is the domain of smart, fit, healthy competitors; let PEAK PERFORMANCE POKER seat you with the best of them.

“A tribute to Smalls”
Poker blogs and poker forums have pointed out that comments by the media seem to trivialize Small’s death as if some young well conditioned athlete dies from a heart attack it’s tragic, but if it’s an obese person then it’s just his weight.

Dimat would like to take this chance to let people know a bit more about him.

55-year-old Paul “Smalls” Kitsos, a mainstay in the World Series of Poker and WSOP Circuit scene, passed away at 6:30PM this past Sunday en route to another round of tournaments at 2010 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Paul Kitsos had a short but lucrative poker career in some of North America’s biggest events, making his presence felt at the 2006 Seneca World Poker Classic and the World Series of Poker. His star achievement in the world of poker was his first place finish in the Seniors Event of the 2007 US Poker Championships. In all, Mr. Kitsos won almost $375,000 at tournament poker tables. Paul “Smalls” Kitsos will be sorely missed at the tables.
