Study Supports Use of Cancer Treatment Alternative

A new study from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center published in the International Journal of Oncology shows that homeopathic remedies can be effective at killing breast cancer cells. This lends support to homeopathic methods of treating cancer developed by the EuroMed Foundation (www.euro-med.us), an Arizona cancer center that has been revolutionizing cancer treatment with conventional and alternative therapies. Known as The George Protocol, these treatment modalities can achieve improvement for patients with cancer and other chronic illness.

“Traditional chemotherapy and other cancer treatments tend to ravage the body, causing a lot of ‘collateral damage’ in the attempt to kill cancer cells,” explained Dr. Frank George, Medical Director Emeritus of the EuroMed Foundation and developer of The George Protocol cancer treatment alternative. “In the past, this has been seen as an unavoidable occurrence, an unfortunate side effect of medically-necessary treatments that were supposed to be effective. At EuroMed, we believe that cancer treatment can be better – targeted and non-toxic.”

Each patient at the EuroMed Foundation receives a completely individualized protocol. Different treatment modalities – such as Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) – are employed to attack the cause of cancer, but also strengthen the immune system. A key factor of The George Protocol is the belief that, given the right “tools,” the body can heal itself. In addition to cancer treatments, these tools include nutrition, immune support, and detoxification.

“There has been long-standing criticism that homeopathy is ineffective,” explained Dr. George. “While we’ve seen hundreds of patients who have benefited from treatment, we’re up against continued resistance.”

“This study from M.D. Anderson provides very powerful and much-needed validation,” stated Dr. Robert Zieve of EuroMed. “M.D. Anderson is a widely respected oncology center, so the results of their study will receive a certain level of attention and recognition. This is a very exciting and positive development, because all cancer patients should know that they have options, that traditional treatments are not necessarily the only choice for them.”

The M.D. Anderson study investigated the effects of homeopathic remedies on breast cancer cells in vitro (outside the body). Referred to as “complementary and alternative medicine” (CAM), the homeopathic remedies used in the study were based on a protocol developed in India. The study found that the treatment did, in fact, kill cancer cells without damaging surrounding tissue. The authors of the study closed the article by encouraging further investigation of CAM remedies for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

“What the authors of the study discovered about CAM for breast cancer, we have long understood for many types of cancer – including lung, colon, lymphoma, and prostate, just to name a few,” adds Dr. Zieve. “I believe that further studies will demonstrate the vast possibilities for homeopathic and holistic cancer treatment so that the medical community and the public will have a better understanding of this revolutionary approach.”

The EuroMed Foundation (www.euro-med.us) is an Arizona cancer center specializing in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer utilizing the best of conventional and alternative therapies from around the world. The doctors on staff are all highly trained in alternative cancer therapies. Dr. Frank George researched the effects of traditional cancer treatments on the human body and developed his own protocol for a safer, more effective treatment and recovery process. Before becoming certified as an IPT instructor, Dr. George received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Potentially Deadly Female Contraceptives

Women use birth control treatments for a variety of reasons: first and foremost to avoid getting pregnant, but also to lessen premenstrual symptoms, control acne, regulate menstrual cycles and more. Unfortunately, by doing so they could actually be putting themselves at risk.

Tens of thousands of lawsuits have been filed against Bayer Corporation (manufacturer of the popular birth control pills Yaz – aka Yasmin and Ocella) and other pharmaceutical companies by women who have developed deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), strokes, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, benign liver tumors and more after using various female contraceptives.

The complaints filed in these cases allege that the injuries these women suffered were the direct result of active and/or inactive ingredients in their birth control. The majority of Yaz/Yasmin/Ocella-related cases allege links between the harm suffered and a specific ingredient, a hormone called drosperinone, that functions as a diuretic and can markedly increase the body’s potassium levels.

Have Other Contraceptive Methods Caused Similar Problems?

While personal injury claims connected to Yaz have only recently begun to be filed, other birth control pills and methods that have caused serious complications in countless women over the years. Even the non-fatal side effects of contraceptives can do many women more harm than good, causing headaches, hair loss, vision changes, nausea, abdominal pain, edema (fluid retention), skin reactions, jaundice and more.

The contraceptive injection Depo-Provera (a shot taken every three months in lieu of having to take a daily pill), for example, when used for long periods of time, has been linked to both bone density loss and consistent weight gain. Unfortunately, bone density decreases can be permanent and have been shown to drastically increase the chance of developing osteoporosis in the future.

There have also been questions raised about the safety of Ortho Evra, a transdermal birth control patch worn for a week at a time. It contains a significantly higher amount of estrogen than many other methods. A recent study indicates that women using the patch have a greater risk of developing blood clots, thromboembolisms, pulmonary embolisms, myocardial infarctions and strokes.

Pharmaceutical companies have a duty to protect their customers, and you might be eligible for compensation if you have suffered as a result of taking Yaz, Depo-Provera, Ortho Evra or other female contraceptive products. If you or a loved one has experienced injuries related to birth control, consult an attorney in your area with in-depth knowledge of these types of cases.

Men with Erectile Dysfunction (ED) Demonstrate Increased Risk of Calcified Coronary Arteries

In the largest study done to date, RMA of New York’s Dr. Natan Bar-Chama and his associates presented ground-breaking research that determined men with erectile dysfunction (ED) are at a significantly increased risk of high coronary artery calcification scores (CACS), a known predictor of future cardiovascular events. This research was presented at the American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting on May 31, 2010 in San Francisco.

The study showed that men with ED have higher CACS scores, independent of other coronary risk factors. In fact, men with ED are 50% more likely to have high CACS scores compared to those without ED. The study evaluated 1,119 consecutively enrolled men, 31% of which experienced ED, as part of the World Trade Center Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program.

“This study highlights that ED is the canary in the coal mine for underlying cardiovascular disease and, therefore, men with ED need to be evaluated for overall cardiovascular risk and guidelines are needed to define which diagnostic tests can best assess this risk,” said Dr. Bar-Chama, Director of the Center for Male Reproductive Health at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York.

The study, titled “Erectile Dysfunction is an Independent Risk Factor for the Presence of High Risk Coronary Artery Calcification”, demonstrated this increased risk of calcification of coronary arteries, even when taking other co-morbidities and risk factors into consideration. In fact, the increased risk of coronary artery calcification for men with ED is similar to the increased risk for men with a history of hypertension or smokers. The mean age of the men in the study was 50.5 years of age.

“Identifying that ED may be an early indication of risk for a future major coronary event is but the first step in creating effective testing and early intervention, but may help us positively impact future health,” added Dr. Bar-Chama. “Certainly these findings indicate early and more thorough evaluation for ED is appropriate and it may be wise to seek the care of a urologist when first noticing the symptoms of ED.”
