Internet Records Builds a Bridge to Haiti Through Music

Internet Records, one of the fastest and hottest independent record labels in the industry to date, has announced its efforts to assist the country of Haiti.

CEO T. Williamson has a vision to create a song that will be dedicated to help the inhabitants of Haiti. All proceeds from this venture will be totally donated to the relief and repair efforts for the damaged country, due to its recent earthquake disasters. “It is my desire to reach out to the Haitian community at large through a musical offering. We are looking for any musicians, singers, rappers, producers, engineers and studio owners to volunteer their talents and energy to make this wonderful task a reality,” stated the CEO. Internet Records is currently in the throes of soliciting all assistance in those areas, along with using its own roster talent and staff to accomplish this venture.

The weekend of May 21-22 2010 will be the dates for the recording of the song. The song itself along with lyrics will be emailed to various artists for them to learn and the actual recording dates will be very au naturel, with a brief rehearsal and then straight to the booth to lay vocals. “This shows the level of tenacity that many artists have, the raw energy denotes their love for music and the expression of compassion for the victims of the Haiti earthquakes,” states T. Williamson. With that being said, anyone that is interested in participating in this project on any level, please contact T. Williamson at twilliams@internetrecords.biz. Georgia State University Students Encouraged to Text in Class

Entercation, a mobile entertainment technology company, announced today that it has partnered with Georgia State University to create a breakthrough technology using text to screen for live interaction in university classrooms, a first in the college classroom that allows students to turn on their cell phones in class. The new Text Question System is a text-to-screen platform that gives shy students and foreign exchange students a way to interact with professors in a large class without intimidation or language barriers. There is also a special point system which helps students to raise their grades by participating with their mobile phones.

“Georgia State University came to us with a problem to solve, it’s an absolute natural progression for us at Entercation, we have been doing a text to screen platform for pro and college sports programs for over 5 years and felt it was easily adaptable for a learning curriculum, we believe it will be a $25 million dollar a year business for us,” said JB Vick, President of Entercation.

“It is easy to use, it’s easily adopted by technology shy professors and it’s very inexpensive to implement,” added Vick.

“It’s called TQS or Text Question System, and Georgia State is piloting the technology on campus,” said David McDonald, director of emerging technologies in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State. “Think of the shy student who feels lost in a classroom of 200. This allows them to anonymously ask questions using technology they already know and use and they get credit for doing so.”

Here’s why the Text Question System solves the problem in the classroom:

1. Foreign exchange students have a voice when they are having problems speaking our language
2. It’s perfect for large classrooms and auditorium size classrooms
3. Students are rewarded for using their cell phones when otherwise are restricted in using them in this environment
4. Students pile up points that go towards their final grade by participating
5. Texting is the communication language of today’s student

“It’s a huge win/win for everyone involved, from student to professor alike. Kids are using text messaging as a way to communicate and this is just a natural fit for this mobile education platform. There are many mobile applications that have tried this in the past—but faculty members would not adopt it because it was too hard and complicated. It’s cool to see phones turned on in the classroom where just a few weeks ago they were prohibited in the classroom,” said Gabriel German, founder of Orion Entertainment Systems, a wireless GPS manufacturer.

The Family International–Restructuring for the Future

The Family International has currently adopted a new organizational model in order to better achieve the missionary goals of the organization.

After a two-year process of evaluating its structure, doctrine, and methodology, much of which was rooted in its former longstanding cooperative-based model, the Family International has initiated a comprehensive restructuring program. This has resulted in a reinvention of the movement and its structure to allow for greater diversity, while retaining its missionary objectives.

To reflect the organization’s restructuring and its aims of empowering individuals to operate independently, the Family’s governing charter has been modified and streamlined.

Administrative directors, Steve Kelly and Karen Zerby, summed up the intent and hope of the restructuring in an address to TFI members:

We don’t know what the future holds (as far as the practical details and specifics, and the exact outcome of every change), but we do know a few things: 1) We have a crucial mission: reaching the world with God’s Word, love and truth. 2) We’re following God, by faith. 3) We will encourage each of you to follow the Lord where He leads you. … Our collective efforts will build the Family of the future. (Change Journey Manifesto–May 2010)

The Family International (formerly known as the Children of God) is a non-traditional Christian movement founded by David Brandt Berg (1919-1994) in Southern California during the late 1960s. Active in over 90 countries, the movement engages in evangelistic and humanitarian endeavors.
